She was the daughter of Owen and Virginia Stamey. She attended Salem Academy and The University of North Carolina. She married Dr. William M. Shelley of Atlanta, Georgia in 1954 and lived in Baltimore, Maryland, where Dr. Shelley practiced at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The family moved to Charlotte in 1970 where she was an active volunteer at Charlotte Memorial Hospital and Christ Episcopal Church. Mrs. Shelley was preceded in death by her forever love, husband Bill and son, Robert B. Shelley. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law and their two children; and her son and daughter-in-law and their three children. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 11th at 2:00, at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207. Memorials may be made to the Christ Church Memorial Fund.
