William Gilbert Glover was born to Eli C. Glover and Anna Lou Hodges in Geneva County Alabama. He moved from Alabama to Memphis Tennessee around 1924. The US was in a deep recession and farmers had a very difficult time. His father sold out in Alabama and hired box cars to move all of his farm animals, farm impliments, household furniture and family to a farm outside Memphis.
Uncle Gilbert remained in the Memphis area and died there. He owned and operated his own contracting business until his death. During WWII he served in the South Pacific.
He married 1.Chesney 2. Margaret Virginia Pitts 3. Dorothy Lee Gaines.

He had no natural children but raised two girls as his own.
