Junice RANEY

RANEY, Junice
Life's 95 year journey concluded recently for one of the Grande Dames of the St. Aloysius neighborhood. Junice Raney passed in her sleep Tuesday morning, as she had intended. She experienced no pain, she was at peace and was ready to reunite with her husband of 55 years, relatives, friends and her Maker. Knowing that the angels have delivered her helps us accept her departure.

Junice was a role model for everyone who had the honor to know her. She survived a childhood that could inspire a movie script. Everyone who visited the Raney's on East Sharp Street felt welcome. Her character embodied the best of the Great Generation - she was kind, humble, honest, spiritual, selfless, of high morality, and possessed a remarkable intellect and sense of humor. From her marriage to Denny on Christmas Eve 1936 came five outstanding children - Jack, Frank, Mary Jean (Weigand), Geraldine (Kubinski), Kathleen (Sullivan), 27 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was the BEST, Denny was the BEST, and the Raney family was the BEST! We, the grateful for your love, who remain behind wish you eternal peace. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division St.
