Gregory Wayne "Greg" Rowe, 45, a resident of 599 Norman Road, Blounts Creek, NC died Sunday May 4, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital of Washington, NC.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday May 7, 2014 in the Family Life Center at the First Church of Christ, 520 East 10th Street, Washington officiated by Rev. Joel Cannon. Burial will follow in the Rowe Family Cemetery located in Blounts Creek. Tim Nixon, Gil Lewis, Kevin Jackson, Levie Norman, Michael Arnold and Larry Rowe will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Hal Deans, Bill Arseniu and Sandy Long.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Greg was born in Beaufort County on June 3, 1968 son of Linwood Earl Rowe, Sr. and Edna Lewis Kirk. He was a 1986 graduate of Aurora High School. Greg married the former Sheila Ann Norman on March 16, 1991 who survives. He was a Safety Manager with PCS Corp. of Aurora. Greg was a member of Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church where he and his wife were very active youth leaders. He was athletic director for TEACH sports program where he coached the girls basketball team. For the last two years he and his team went to the National Champion tournament. Greg also coached recreation league soft ball in Chocowinity.
Surviving along with his wife Sheila of the home are two daughters: Whitney Taylor Rowe and Jessica Morgan Rowe both of the home; his father: Linwood Earl Rowe, Sr. and his step-mother Pat of Blounts Creek, step-brother Chris Cherry and step-sister Tracy Cherry; his mother: Edna L. Kirk of Blounts Creek; a brother: Linwood Earl "Lenny" Rowe, Jr. and his wife Liliana of Blounts Creek; his mother-in-law: Billie Norman Gilley and his step-father in law: Rudy Gilley; his grandmother-in-law: Annie Myrtle Norman of Blounts Creek and many nieces, nephews, cousins and kids that he mentored during coaching.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests for memorial contribution to be made to TEACH Athletic Program, 2945 Gilead Shores Road, Blounts Creek, NC 27814.
