Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel May, 77, of Tylertown, will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, May 9, 2014 from the chapel of Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home with the Reverend Nell Maki officiating. Burial will be in the Tylertown Cemetery.
Mrs. May passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
She was born May 2, 1937 in Pike County, Mississippi, daughter of the late Perry Stringer and Ina Stringer Brumfield. She was a long-time business owner of May's Restaurant in Tylertown where she worked and made many life-long friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Tim May, daughter Vi Terry May, grandson Rory May, brothers Dan and David Stringer, sister Mary Beth Ishee.
Mrs. May is survived by sons Jimmy May and wife Mary Rita, and Jason May and wife Kristin all of Tylertown; five grandchildren Lani Foil, Shelly May, Trevor May, Katlyn May and Grayson May; and one great-grandchild Myles Foil; brother-in-law W. K. Martin and niece Brenda Martin of Florence who cared for her lovingly in her last days; and several other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Trevor May, Jamey May, Joseph Boone, Ken Craft, Jeffery Polk, and Chris Foil.
Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 10 A.M. until service time there at 12 Noon.
