Howard Kelley Harper, 50, of Idaho Falls, passed away on May 4, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 10, 1963, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to John J. Harper and Carolyn Hill Harper. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Blackfoot High School. He continued his education by attending Brigham Young University and finished his Bachelor's Degree at Idaho State University. He later received his Doctorate of Neuropsychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Fresno, California.

On April 26, 1985, he married his high school sweetheart, Sheri Evans, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Dr. Harper worked as a Psychologist at EIRMC. He also volunteered with Help, Inc.

Howard was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served an LDS mission in Oakland, California teaching the Vietnamese people. He also served in the Primary, the Sunday School, the Young Men's, and as Bishop of the Shamrock Park Ward. He enjoyed watching BYU sports, boating, fishing, waterskiing and especially enjoyed watching his son play sports.

He is survived by his wife, Sheri Harper; son, Nicholas Harper; daughter, Holly Harper, all of Idaho Falls, ID; his parents, John and Carolyn Harper of Blackfoot, ID; three brothers, Steven (Jennifer) Harper of Provo, UT; David (Elaine) Harper of Gig Harbor, WA; and Matthew (Cristall) Harper, American Fork, UT; five sisters, Marianne (Don) Ballash of South Jordan, UT; Janalyn (Fred) Kesler of Meridian, ID; Carolee (Stewart) Smith of Rockford, ID; Melodee (Mike) Trentmen of Auburn, CA; and Rebecca (David) Crockett of South Jordan, UT.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Harper (Cherie Clawson).

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS Shamrock Park Ward (3195 South Holmes) with Bishop Jay Hildebrandt officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.

Burial will be in the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot, Idaho.
