Carol Hudson Newton, 85, passed away after a long battle with Lymphoma and Alzheimer's Disease. She died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, May 4, 2014.

She was born April 24, 1929 in Taylorsville, Utah, the daughter of Clifford Gordon Hudson and Zoy Thomander.

She married Rex B. Newton on August 29, 1953 and later was sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Carol graduated from West High School and worked at Woolworth's, the LDS Church Offices, Midwest Service & Supply, and Highland Dairy, all of Salt Lake City.

She is survived by her husband, Rex B. Newton, and children, Linda (Harold) Moore, Larry (Geri Lin) Newton, and Sandy (Kenneth) Branch; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and brothers, Gordon (Miriam) Hudson and Steven (Margarita) Hudson. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Renee'; and her great-grandson, Jackson.

The family gives special thanks to Carol's Canyon Hospice workers, Kim, Annette, Kelly, Liz, and Martha, for the service and the loving care they have given our wife and mother.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cottonwood Heights Fourth Ward Chapel, 2522 East 6710 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Boulevard (7600 South), Cottonwood Heights, Utah, and at the church prior to the services from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Interment: Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery.
