Ralph Sterling Bartlett, 93, died at 8:30 Friday evening at Hedrick Medical Center. He was born Jan. 16, 1888, in Milan, son of Addison Solomon Bartlett and Mary Frances Halliberton Bartlett.

He attended Sunny Ridge school in that vicinity until her was 16 and then he and his family moved to the Holliday school district near Pollock. He attended college at Kirksville and continued to teach school for the next three years. After that time he bought his own farm and married Floy Viola Albertson, Aug. 10, 1910. He farmed and auctioneered until they moved to Chillicothe in 1923. He served as secretary of the Farm Clubs of Livingston and adjoining counties, lectured and helped organize farm clubs throughout the counties.

For a number of years he was a sales representative of the J.D. Adams Road Building Machinery Company. He was active in politics, served on the Chillicothe police force and in the early 40's went into the insurance and real estate business and was active in those businesses until the end of 1978.

He was active in the United Methodist Church and was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. Mr. Bartlett was a charter member of Autumn Leaves club and the Autumn Leaves Chorus.

Survivors include three children, James A. Bartlett, Kansas City; Wayne L. Bartlett, Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Mrs. Robert (Viola) Pepper, Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clio Kent, Phoenix, Ariz. and Mrs. Isabelle Zoberist, LaMesa, Calif. and a brother, Irl Bartlett, Twin Falls, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two children, a sister and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Norman-Wagy Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Ogden officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 o'clock this evening at the funeral home.
