Memorial services for James Basil McNiel, 81, Franklin Road, who died Thursday at Rutherford Hospital from a heart attack, were held 2 p.m. Saturday, Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Following services here he was taken to Hartman Funeral Home in Johnson City where funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Highfield officiated.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Jo Lyle McNiel; two sons, James Jr., of Murfreesboro and Thomas Summers McNiel of Nashville; sister, Mrs. Ruth McPherson of Johnson City and two grandchildren.
A member and elder of Central Christian Church, he was a farmer and retired director of dairies for Tennessee from 1959 to 1971.
