Ross B. Atkinson, 89, devoted husband of 62 years and loving father, of Mesa, Arizona and North Syracuse, died on May 20 at James Square. He retired after 42 years as an inventory control manager from Diebold, formerly Lamson. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Mesa and former member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in North Syracuse. He is a former Boy Scout Leader for Troop 127. He is predeceased by his wife Verna who died in February 2003. His family includes his sons: John of Cazenovia, Gene of Charlotte, NC; daughter: Donna Gilbert of North Syracuse; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nieces. Funeral services are Saturday, May 31 at 10 a.m. in Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 435 S. Main St. North Syracuse. The family will greet friends after the service at the church. Private burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St, Liverpool 13088 or the American Cancer Society. Frasier-Shepardson FH is in charge of arrangements.
