BARTLESON Sr. Truman Bartleson, Sr., 74, of 456 West
Broadway, died Thursday, November 9, 2000 at his residence.

Born December 1, 1925 in Burgin, he was the son of the late
Warner and Dora Agnes Boggs Bartleson. He was the
widower of Jennie VanArsdall Smith Bartleson. He was a
retired buffer for the former Hall Mack Company after 20 years
of service. He had also been employed by Mercer Motors,
Cudahy and IGA of Harrodsburg. He was a member and
deacon of First Baptist Church, a former member of the
Zoning Board, former vice president and coach of the Mercer
Little League Baseball, a former member of the Harrodsburg
Board of Education and a former member of the Optimist
Club. He served as a member of the Park Board, was a
volunteer at the Mercer County Fair and Horse Show for 36
years, a Kentucky Colonel, an Honorary Secretary of State,
and a member of the Loyal Benevolent Society #3 East,
Burgin. He was a member of the Housing Board, and was a
public servant and community volunteer for 40 years.

Survivors include: three sons, Truman (Doris) Bartleson Jr.,
Harrodsburg, George E. Bartleson, Los Angeles, CA and
Randall (Judy) L. Bartleson, Harrodsburg; two daughters,
Rena and Sharon Bartleson, both of Harrodsburg; one
brother, C. L. Bartleson, Burgin; two sisters, Frankie Ellen
Bowman, Burgin and Mary Agnes Garner, Lexington; one
brother-in-law, John W. Smith Jr., Lawrenceburg; 10
grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in
death by a son, Ernest Calvin Bartleson, a brother, James
Warner Bartleson, and a sister, Bessie Pope. Funeral
services were conducted Monday, November 13, at the First
Baptist Church with Rev. Virgil Hill officiating.

Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Charles Bartleson, Greg Bowman, James W. Dunn, Cecil Smith,
James Thurman, and Leon VanDyke Jr. Honorary bearers were
Charles Carr, Alvis Johnson, Kenneth Jones, Scott Jones,
Kenneth Kirkland, Jim Moseley, Bill Randolph, Dr. H. M.
Snodgrass, David Taylor and Tony Wilder. Memorials are
suggested to the Truman Bartleson Sr., Scholarship Fund,
Harrodsburg High School, 441 E. Lexington St., Harrodsburg,
KY 40330. Parks Funeral Home was in charge of
