Verl D. Sandifur, 94, Bunker Hill, passed away at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at Howard Regional Health System, Kokomo.

He was born in Miami County to Noah A. and Carrie O. (Duckwall) Sandifur on March 12, 1911.

Sandifur graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1929. He retired from Wabash Valley Bank in Peru on March 31, 1976, after 27 years of service. After his retirement from the bank he worked for Mike's IGA in Bunker Hill, and also worked 19 years for Leon Allen at Allen Funeral Home, Bunker Hill. He also helped farm most of his adult active life.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bunker Hill, where he played the church piano for many years; a past master and member of the Bunker Hill Masonic Lodge F&AM #683; a member of the Walton Order of the Eastern Star #184, the Peru York Rite Bodies, the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, and Order of Amaranth Lodge Logansport Court #4.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Earl Sandifur; one sister and brother-in-law, Edna and John Davisson; one niece, Anna Marie Kent; and one nephew, John Davisson.


Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Bunker Hill, with the Reverend Charles Layne officiating.

Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery.

Calling is one hour before the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation.
