Mrs. Broom was born June 18, 1927, in Floyd County a daughter of the late George Milton Baker, and Josephine Busby Baker. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Floyd Homemaker, and Georgia Mountain Music Club. She was preceded in death by, her husband, C. E. Broom, daughter Monya Broom, brother, Arlen Baker, sister, Sandra Bowman.
Survivors include sons, Charles (Mary) Broom, Rome; Scott ( Diane) Broom, Cave Spring; brothers, Clive (Janny) Baker, Rome; George Myron Baker, Rome; Alfred (Peggy) Baker, Rome; Mather (Jeanette) Baker, Rome; sister, Diane Butler, Rome; grandchildren, Charles (Connie) Broom, Kristi Wigley, Kevin (Kim) Broom, great grandchildren, Hunter Broom, Colton Broom, Hudson Broom, Jay Wigley, Natalie Wigley, Ashlyn Broom, numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday May 6, 2014 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Rodger Whorton, officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday May 5, 2014, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga . 30165. At other hours the family may be contacted at the residence of a sister, Diane Butler.
