WILSHIRE – Thomas R., 84, Patton, passed away March 10, 2008, at Laurel Crest Rehabilitation and Special Care Center. He was born May 23, 1923, in Patton, son of Albert and Julia (Link) Wilshire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert Jr. and Daniel. Tom is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine (Criste) Wilshire, and daughters: Pollyanna (Robert) Peppetti, Cresson; Kathi (Richard) Rydze, Pittsburgh; and Janet (James) Kupchella, Johnstown. "Pappy Tom" had 10 grandchildren: Jon Peppetti, Jennifer (Corey) Nagle, Joel Peppetti, Cassy (Will) Thomeier, Tyson, Dustin and Abby Rydze, Jessica (Adrian) Ranck, Nick Kupchella and Sam Kupchella (fiancee, Megan Scott), and great-grandchildren: Taylor and Thomas Nagle and Isabella Thomeier. He is also survived by sisters: Lorraine Mertens Haluska, Cannonsburg, and Betty Virginia (Raymond) Bradley, Loretto; and sister-in-law, Agnes Wilshire, Patton; also by numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was manager for many years at Patton Motor Sales and later worked as parts manager at Suburban Dodge and Courtsey Motors in Altoona. He served as a member of the board of Cambria County Solid Waste Authority and also served as treasurer for many years on St. Mary's Cemetery Association Board of Directors. He was a lifelong member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, where he was a Eucharistic minister and reader. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, by Benedictine Fathers. Committal, St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Queen of Peace Church Restoration Fund. (www.stevensfh.com)
