Ragnilde Hendriksdatter Fadnes was the last child born to Hendrick Olson Fadnes and Kari Jacobsdatter Ekse on the Fadnes farm near Evanger Norway. She married Anders Knutson Fadnes in Norway and they emigrated together in April 1848 on the ship "Augusta". In America she spelled her name Ragnhilde and Anders became Andres. They chose to use Fadness (spelled with the double 's') as their surname instead of Knudson.

They settled in Columbia County WI, and in 1869 moved the family to Mitchell County IA. They lived there for 40+ years but always considered Keyeser as their home and wished to be buried in the cemetery at Spring Prairie Lutheran Church.

Ragnhilde and Andres had ten children: Ragnhilde (1848), Ingebor (1849), Knute (Dec 1849), Hendrick (1852), Ingeborg (1854), Kari (1856), Andreas or Andrew (1859), Anna Maria (1861), Ragnelda (1862), and Oline (1866).
