"James M. Ancell died Sunday morning at 11:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clyde Ott, 411 Dickinson Street. The body was taken to the Norman Funeral Home where it was prepared for burial and where funeral services will be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. D.K. Pegues will conduct the services and burial will be made in Edgewood.

Mr. Ancell was born at Monroe City, Missouri on January 6, 1842. He spent most of his life in Missouri. At the beginning of the Civil War, he enlisted in the Union army. He was wounded during the war and the injury left him with a slight limp.

He was married August 3, 1865 to Mary D. Shoush, who died June 29, 1907. They were the parents of eight children, four of whom are now living. They are Mrs. Ada Ott of Chillicothe, Mrs. Marie Bohrer of Lowery City, Mrs. Edith Marsh of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mrs. Alice Kaye of Calif.

Mr. Ancell had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ott, for the past eleven years and was a well loved resident of the neighborhood." The Chillicothe Constitution, April 6, 1931
