Verce Baxter, 76, passed away in the VA hospital, Grand Island, Neb., May 18, 1967. Services were held yesterday (Wednesday) at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Belleville with interment in Rose Mound cemetery (sic). Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart in charge.

Verce Baxter, son of Donald and Lucinda Baxter was born April 24, 1891 at Jonesboro (sic), Tenn., and passed away May 18, 1967 in the Veterans hospital, Grand Island, Neb., at the age of 76 years and 24 days.

He attended Jonesboro (sic) public schools and was married to Lena Swaney Nitcher on August 26, 1942. He had lived in Republic and Jewell counties since 1907 and resided continuously in Belleville since 1961. He was a veteran of WWI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Etta Thornburg and a daughter June.

Survivors include his wife Lena of the home, brother Preston of Dresden, Cal.; two daughters Mary Belle Baxter and Betty Steinwart; step-son Leslie Nitcher, Belleville and step-daughter, Wilma Camp, Sunnymeade, Cal.; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in Hardy, Neb., with interment in Rosemound (sic) cemetery (sic), Hardy.
