Lucius Tuckerman married, in New York City, April 2, 1844, Elizabeth Wolcott, born at Sunswick, Astoria, New York, July 8, 1819, died at Stockbridge, Massachusetts, August 25, 1906, daughter of Colonel George Gibbs, of Newport, Rhode Island. The mother of Mrs. Lucius Tuckerman was Laura, daughter of Oliver Wolcott, secretary of the treasury under Washington and Adams, and granddaughter of Oliver Wolcott, signer of the Declaration of Independence. She was born at Litchfield, Connecticut, April 10, 1794, died at New York, December 10, 1870.

Member of well-known family dies at her home in the berkshires
Pittsfield, Mass., Aug. 26 -- Mrs. Lucius Tuckerman of Washington died this morning at her country place, Ingleside, in Stockbridge.
She was 87 years old, and was the widow of Lucius Tuckerman of New York and later of Washington. Her grandfather was Oliver Wollcott, Secretary of the Treasury under Washington, and her father was a member of the Gibbs family of Newport, R.I.
Mr. Tuckerman bought a country place in Stockbridge about 20 years ago, and for many years Mrs. Tuckerman was one of the leading hostesses of that resort. Her surviving children are Alfred, Bayard, and Paul Tuckerman, Mrs. James Lowndes of Washington, and Miss Emily Tuckerman.
