Mike Vanderpool, age 59, of Goshen, died on Friday, May 2, 2014, at IU Health Goshen Hospital in Goshen. Mr. Vanderpool was born in Lackey, Ky., on Sept. 13, 1954, to the late Elliot and Barbara Ellen (Shepherd) Vanderpool.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He married Shawn Marie Oberlin on Sept. 4, 2008.

Mike was the warranty and service manager at Winnebago in Middlebury. He also worked at Coachman for 22 years.

Survivors include his wife, Shawn Vanderpool of Goshen; a son, Michael E. Vanderpool of Kendallville; a daughter, Michelle Ellen (Josh) Cole of Kendallville; two stepsons, Clayton (Kimberly) Beckner of South Bend and Christopher Beckner of Ada, Ohio; four grandchildren, Cody Cole, Nick Cole, Grant Beckner and Clayton "C.J." Beckner, Jr.; two brothers, Larry (Serena) Vanderpool of Garrett and Elliot Vanderpool of Kendallville; and four sisters, Sharon (Jim) Sparkman of Kendallville, Marcia (Scott) Clements of Kendallville, Trish (Gary) Furlow of Rome City and Diane (Mike) Gray of LaGrange.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville, with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Clarence Combs and Rev. Lee Combs. Burial will be at Corunna Cemetery in Corunna.

Preferred memorials may be made to IU Health Goshen Heart and Vascular.
