Son of Richard and Rose P. McCosker Erdlen. At age 16, was working on a fire escape at Carollton St. nr Second, Phila. The chain supporting the counterweight snapped. Ernest fell two stories, and the counterweight fell on top of him, crushing his abdomen. He also suffered broken bones and a head injury, and died at Roosevelt Hospital later that evening. His funeral was performed from L'Emmanuello Italian Episcopal Mission Church, #1024 Christian St. Connection to the church not clear.
