Ernest fell two stories, and the counterweight fell on top of him, crushing his abdomen. He also suffered broken bones and a head injury, and died at Roosevelt Hospital later that evening. His funeral was performed from L'Emmanuello Italian Episcopal Mission Church, #1024 Christian St. Connection to the church not clear.
