She moved to Coral Gables, Florida, at an early age and attended Coral Gables High School and the University of Miami. After marriage to Samuel Walter Monroe, she resided in Florence, Myrtle Beach, and Darlington, SC. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, her husband, and her son-in-law.
