Clarence James Boynton enlisted in the Army in March of 1941. He served with Princess Louise’s Hussars in North Africa, Italy, France, Germany, Holland and England. He was twice wounded during the war. Once in Italy in 1944, and then again in Holland in 1945. He suffered with hearing loss due to the time he spent as a tank commander. He was awarded 3 service medals and 4 Canadian Commemorative Medals. Jim was discharged in September 1945. As a civilian, Jim and his wife Ina acquired a beef farm in Grey County, Ontario. Jim assisted in the creation of the Ontario Pork Marketing System. He was also vice-chairman of the National Farm Products Marketing Council. He was named an honourary life member of the Ontario Institute of Agrologists.
