Stephanie died Friday, April 11, 2014 near Sioux Falls, SD, the result of an automobiled accident.

Wake services were held at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes.

Funeral graveside services were 10 AM, Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Native American Church Cemetery, rural Wagner.

Stephanie F. Shields was born Jan 11, 1973, the daughter of Joseph Shields Jr. and the late Ethel M. Iron Elk Shields in Armour, SD. She grew up in Marty, SD, then moved to Mission. Her family all had nicknames, hers was "Yok".

Stephanie was very outgoing, loved working with the youth, making something impossible happen. "Steph" had many friends and adopted sisters and brothers.

"Steph leaves behind her children: Aage & Joseph Marshall, Raine Shields, Casidy, Shelby & Charles Long. She also leaves behind her father, sisters: Joanne Yankton, Grace & Lisa Bad Hand and Melanie Shields; brothers: Larry Yankton, Royal Bad Hand, Armando Iron Elk, Sr., Marcus & Telly Shields and Harry Bad Hand.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Iron Elk Shields; brothers: Kevin & Jerry; sister, Bernadine Shields; grandfathers: Wallace and Andrew Charging Whirlwind and nephew, Aram Iron Elk.
