Brian Douglas Fields, 69, of Van Buren, died May 2, 2014 in Fort Smith.
He was born April 22, 1945 in Fort Smith to James Dudley and Catherine G. Connaughton Fields.

He was a retired Colonel from the 188th Fighter Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard, and he retired as Vice Commander after over 30 years of service. He spent his career flying fighter jets such as the F-100, F-4, and the F-16. Brian loved the Lord, and his faith in God and focus on Him were the hallmarks of his life. He attended City Christian Fellowship Church and was active with United Blood Services and Habitat for Humanity in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife Kathy of the Home; one daughter, Angella and her husband Adam Baker of Fort Smith; two sons, Marc Fields of Fort Smith and Heath and his wife Julie Conley of Van Buren; one sister, Jadean Keller of Forney, TX; one brother, Michael Fields of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren, Patric Brennan, Noah Baker, Emma Baker, Isaac Conley, Abraham Conley, Lily Conley, and Megan Shouse; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cissie Fields; and sister, Mary Golofski.

Funeral service will be Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the City Christian Fellowship Church with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Bell, Doug Lamb, Johnny Johnson, Charles Angel, Bobby Burns, and Justin Blasingame.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ralph Obana, Robert McKenzie, Danny Udouj, Leon Sparks, and Gary Udouj.
