Rod enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, and collecting die-cast cars. He was a proud veteran of the United States Military.
At the time of his death, Rod was survived by three children, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was also survived by four brothers and many nieces and nephews.
