Russell was born September 26, 1924 at Barlow, Ohio to Ira Edward North and Ethel Blanche (Wogan) North.
He served with the United States Army during World War II. Russell was a life member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He had been employed for 30 years at the Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass in Newark after 10 years employment.
He was a member of Bellville Lodge #376 Free and Accepted Masons and the Valley of Columbus Consistory, 32 Degree Mason.
Surviving are his daughter Carrie Steele of Bellville; grandchildren Charles Statzer, Matthew Statzer and Karen North; great-grandchildren Cayden Statzer and Caitlin Lovelace; 2 step-great-grandchildren Rhylee and Gavin Wilson.
Besides his parents Russell was preceded in death by his son Gary Thomas North; brothers Eldon North, Pearl North, Carroll North and Gene North and sisters Alice Pointer and Loraine North.
Friends may call Monday May 5, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Bellville where Bellville Lodge #376 will conduct Masonic Memorial Services at 8 p.m. Graveside funeral services officiated by Rev. Ken Kinley will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
