Surrounded by her opera music and kitty, Barbara Christie Jensen of Arlington, VA, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 23, 2014 of natural causes. She was 93.
Barbara Christie was born July 21, 1920, in Newport, Rhode Island. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Col. Oscar T. "Bud" Jensen, USMC, Ret., her parents, Vice Admiral and Mrs. R.W. Christie and brother Richard Buchanan Christie.
A lifelong member of Army Navy Country Club and world traveler, Mrs. Jensen was an avid reader of all genres. She never stopped learning. She was a self-educated patron of art history and enjoyed being a docent at the National Art Gallery for many years. She was greatly admired by and a role model for her six grandchildren. She will forever be missed.
Mrs. Jensen leaves to cherish her memory her three children: Tom (Karen) Jensen of McLean, VA, Rick (Jannie) Jensen of Falls Church, VA, and daughter, Christie (Charlie) Long of Alpharetta, GA; six adoring grandchildren: Kristin (Mina) Faltas, Dana Jensen, Tyler Jensen, Matthew (Deborah) and Andrew (Amanda) Long, and Shelley (Erik) Eddy; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date with burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
