Tommie Lynne Buchfink, 67, of Oologah passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in Tulsa. Tommie was born Aug. 28, 1946 in Vinita to Tom and Ernestine (Kincaid) Hayes. She and her husband Marvin have lived in the Oologah area for the last 43 years where they raised their family.

Tommie was a member of the Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma where she held a position on the Tribal Council. As one of the pioneer members of the Shawnee Tribe, Tommie played a vital role in the start up of theShawneelanguage program.

She also served as a substitute teacher for Oologah for many years while her children attended school. Tommie enjoyed taking walks, cooking, canning, and loved the outdoors. She also loved spending time with her family and they will miss her dearly.

Tommie was preceded in death by her mother, her son James Edward "Jimmy" Buchfink, and an infant daughter Christina.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. with the family receiving guests from 4-6 p.m. and will continue Sunday, May 4 from 1:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 5, at Zion Hill Church in Oologah. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home. (Oologah Lake Leader)
