Stacie Earline George Smith, 94, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at her home.

She was born in Stokes County, NC, on December 8, 1919, to the late Sandy Martin George and Emily Ada Flippin George.

Stacie was of the Baptist faith, a homemaker, a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. She devoted her life to caring for and loving her family. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, gardening, and working in her flower beds. Her home was always the gathering place for all the children in the neighborhood and her front porch was the gathering place for all the friends and neighbors to spend quality time together in fellowship. Her love abounded and was given freely to anyone who would accept it.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Holbrook and husband, Richard, and Sandra Bennett and husband Joe; a son and two daughters-in-law, Carl Smith and wife Joan and Jack's widow, Dorothy Smith; twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tommy Lee Smith; one son, Jack Smith; one great-grandchild, Lee Sawyers; her parents; three sisters, Nonnie Stevens, Versie Vaughn, and Viola Stewart; and four brothers, Otis George, Vester George, Clifford George, and James Thomas George.

Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Cox-Needham Chapel at 2:00 P.M with Elder J.H. Keaton and Rev. Jack Nance, officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. At other times the family will receive friends at the family's home place at 9065 NC 89 Highway West, Westfield, NC 27053 (Johnstown Community).

The family extends a special thank you to her son-in-law, Richard Holbrook for his genuine love, care, and compassion that he gave to Stacie during her life.

Floral tributes will be accepted or memorials may be made to Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Barbara Wright, 3660 Horseshoe Road, Westfield, NC 27053 or Senior Services, 231 Melrose Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
