US Congressman. Born in Abnerville, Pennsylvania, he served as president of the Bells Gap Railroad Company (1871-73), president of the board of city commissioners of Altoona, (1872-73) and as superintendent of transportation for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, (1865-75). In 1875, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth Congress, serving until 1877. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his position of superintendent of transportation for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, (1877-85). He then moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and engaged in various business enterprises until his death at age 68.
