Mary Lydia Glover, who was 103, died peacefully at a local Nampa care center on March 12, 2004.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at the Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Jim Hardenbrook officiating. Private graveside services will precede the funeral at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Friends are invited to greet the family for a time of visitation on Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel.
Mary Glover was born on Aug. 16, 1900 at Putnam, Okla. to Van and Anna Showalter Goodman. She attended Bethany Bible School in Chicago. There she met Edwin Julius Glover a student minister from Hancock, Minn. They were married on Dec. 25, 1921 at Mary's home.
She served with her husband in the following churches: Stanley, Wis.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Payette, Idaho; Bakersfield, Calif.; Weiser, Idaho; Klamath Falls, Ore.; and Boise Valley, Idaho. At these various pastorates Edwin and Mary farmed, worked at Farmers Cooperative Creamery, and Farber's Department Store.
Mary was active in Church Women United, WCTU, and women's and children's groups in the church. As pastor's wife she shared in the responsibilities of church life.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Julius and Jane Glover of Yakima, Wash. and her daughter and son-in-law Mary and Marvin Blough of Nampa; her grandchildren and their spouses Phil and Dianne Glover, Ann Glover and Paul Famen, Becky and John Rogers, Brian and Patti Glover, David and Kate Lambert, and John and Johnna Lambert. Great-grandchildren are John Glover, Mary Margaret Glover, Nicole and Jason Johnson, Adam and Jenny Rogers, Jesse and Dulcinea Rogers, Joseph Glover, Matthew Glover, Kaida Lambert, Connor Lambert, Aaron Lambert and Mary Danielle Lambert, and great-great-grandchild Sara Johnson.
Mary's sisters still living are Clara Bosley, Edna Cline, and Dorothy Gross and her husband Paul Gross. The extended family includes Luz Caraballo of Puerto Rico, and many nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Edwin, her brother Chester Goodman, and sisters Esther Cline and Mable Keeran.
The family suggests any memorial gifts be made in memory of Mary to the Nampa Church of the Brethren.
