Joyce Lorentzen Boehmler, 85, born in Milwaukee, Wis., died peacefully in her home in Cherokee Village, Arkansas, on Thursday, May 1, 2014, following a courageous fight with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, James Boehmler, sons, David (Linda) Lorentzen of Madison, Wis., and Bryan (Cindy) Lorentzen of Franklin, Wis.; daughter, Barbara (Thomas) Hoelzer of Austin, Texas; and granddaughters, Rebecca and Amanda Lorentzen.

She was raised in South Milwaukee, Wis., where she raised her family with her husband, Fritz Lorentzen, who preceded her in death in 2004.

She was involved with the family flower shop in South Milwaukee, and her interest in gardening continued throughout her life. She retired with her husband, Fritz, to Cherokee Village in 1980, where she gained an interest in golf and maintained her involvement in playing bridge. She was active in her Lutheran church both before and after retirement.

A memorial service was held in the Cherokee Village Lutheran Church in Cherokee Road Cherokee Village, AR. Wortham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
