GARDEN CITY BEACH | Evelyn Virginia Weeks, 84 of Windjammer Village died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Waccamaw Community Hospital. Born Feb. 19, 1920 in Richmond, Va., a daughter of the late Vander P. and Ella Blanch Thomas Birckhead. Ms. Weeks was a member of Surfside Beach Methodist Church, and an animal lover. Survivors include one son, Roger M. Weeks and his wife Cathy of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, May Huyck of Myrtle Beach, and Naomi Bowers of Annapolis, Md.; one granddaughter; Kristen Metschan; one grandson, Brian Weeks; one great-granddaughter, Natalie Metschan; nephew, Chris and his wife Kathy Jordan of Murrells Inlet; niece, Jenny Otter and her husband Tom of California. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Grand Strand Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Washington, D.C. at a later date.
