Mrs. Powers passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 29, 2018.
Virginia was born on July 29, 1935 in Rising Star, Texas to parents M.D. and Lillian (Norene) Roberts.
She married her husband, Pastor James A. Powers on May 14, 1955 in Brownwood. They were married for 35 years, until James Passed away in 1990. Together they raised four children and were blessed with several grandchildren. Her family continued to grow after James' death, to include several great grandchildren.
Virginia loved spending time with her family, working in her yard, growing flowers, cooking, playing games, quilting and attending church. She was known for her exceptionally good homemade cinnamon rolls and hot rolls. She had a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Louise Vest, and a granddaughter, Rebecca Powers.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, J.R. and Pat Powers of Snyder, Texas; Ron and Debbie Powers of Snyder, Texas; and Charles and Susan Powers of Nebraska City, Nebraska. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Kenneth Barnes of Bangs, Texas. She is survived by ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
