He retired in 1978 after 15 years with the company. Born in Orono, Maine, he came to this city as a young man and attended school here. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a mechanic with the 3473rd Ordnance Company in Europe. His first wife, the former Lillian Dean, died in 1972. He leaves his second wife, the former Rita Stanhope; two daughters, Constance Metall and Susan Gagliardi; stepson, Kenneth Fawcette; stepdaughter, Sandra L. Dunsmore; brother, Harvey, all of Pittsfield; two sisters, Millicent Culverwell of Pittsfield and Ann Pierce of Palm Harbor, Fla.; 11 grandchildren. Burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery, Pittsfield, MA. END:
