Wayne Alexander Story, age 77, of Hollywood Ridge Rd., Lenoir, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Caldwell UNC Health Care. He was born August 22, 1936 in Caldwell County to the late Odell Story and Ona Greene Story. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lafern S. Cook; and one brother, Wade H. Story.
Mr. Story was owner and operator of his grading business. He was a member of Abington Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mavis Ford Story of the home; three sons, Ronald W. Story and wife Darlene and N. Guy Story, both of Lenoir and R.D. Story of Taylorsville; two daughters, Mrs. Ann S. Whisnant and husband Billy of Hudson and Mrs. Helen S. Edmisten and husband Chris of Lenoir; three brothers, Lester Story of Harrisburg, Harvey Story and wife Dora Lee of Lenoir and Larry Story and wife Minnie of Vilas; sisters, Verlean S. Greene and Edith S. Arnette and husband O.J., both of Lenoir and Cathy S. Hollars and husband Henry of Granite Falls; five grandchildren, Kevin Story and wife Suda, Jennifer Story, Preston Story and wife Brandy, Brittany Edmisten and Bryson Edmisten; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan Story, Alex Story and Maddie Story.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Nick Annas, Rev. Raymond Coffey and Rev. Travis Triplett. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.
