Sarah (Gorensky) Brownstein was my paternal great grandmother.

According to the information provided to the undertaker she was about 57 years old when she passed away and the birth date on her Certificate of Death indicates a Birth year of 1886. But engraved on her headstone it says that she was 70 years old, making her birth year abt 1874. Also, according to the Philadelphia Passenger lists for the ss Haverford arriving at Philadelphia, PA 18 Aug 1913 it says that she was 38 years old on that date making her birth year abt 1875.

Sarah married Abraham Brownstein in Russia / Ukraine in about 1895.

Together they had seven children. Rebecca (neé Brownstein) Starker [1898-1988], Henry A Brownstein [1899-1981], Martin Brownstein [1901-1938], Lena (neé Brownstein) Axel [1906-1993], Jacob Brownstein [1908-1994], Esther (neé Brownstein) Heiss [1914-1998].

Sarah passed away at Rockaway Beach Hospital, Queens County, New York.

According to information on her Certificate of Death her father's name was Meyer Sagrinsky. Her mother's name was Rifka Coplinsky.

Variations on the spelling of her maiden name include Sagrinsky, Gorensky, Goren, Shigrinsky.
