Hillsboro Gazette April 20, 1923
William Lucas, aged 70, dropped dead Monday morning, while at work north of Hillsboro, from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy. He and his son had gone to the creek to haul gravel. Mr. Lucas was apparently as well as usual, and was making some remark about the excellent quality of the gravel, when suddenly with an exclamaiton of pain, he fell dead.
The funeral was held Wednesday at two o'clock at the Baptist Church at Hillsboro.
He is survived by the wife, who is also seriously ill, and seven children. They are Mrs. Mattie Michaiels, Mrs. George Vanzant, Miss Maude, Everett, of Gary, Ind., James and Albert at home and Frank of New Holland.
My note: Two children, Mary A. and Willie G., died in 1892 and are buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, Highland County, Ohio.
