Eugene Lee Slataper, M.D., died at Diagnostic Center Hospital, where he was Chief of Anesthesia from its opening until his retirement in 1987. He graduated from San Jacinto high School, University of Texas and U.T. Medical Branch, Galveston. He served an internship at Hermann Hospital and after the war, a residence in anesthesia at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Conn. Dr. Slataper served in the U.S. Army Medical Corp during WW II and was discharged a Major. He was past President of Harris County Medical Society, Texas Gulf Coast Anesthesia Society, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, Houston Surgical Society, Doctors' Club and The Museum of Medical Science. He was given The Life Achievement Award in 1992 by the Texas Gulf Coast Anesthesia Society.

He and his beloved Jessamine celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, April 6, 1943.
