Graveside service for Frances Lou Watkins will be 9:30 A.M. Monday, October 24, 2016 at Letitia Cemetery, east of Lawton followed by a memorial service at 10:00 A.M. at Letitia Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Kelly, Jim Spurlock and Pastor Bud Jones officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Frances Lou Watkins, age 91, of Lawton, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at her home. She was born December 5, 1924 in Eldorado, Oklahoma to Fred Washington and Bertha Lemon (Hopkins) Gunkel. She married Wimer Watkins on August 14, 1949 at Letitia Baptist Church. He died April 27, 2006. Mrs. Watkins had been employed as a nurse for various doctors. She retired after more than 25 years of employment by Dr. William J. Atkinson. She was a longtime member and Sunday School teacher at Letitia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, John Watkins and his fiancé Becky Wiersig, daughter, Mary Crawford Johnston and her husband Jerry, two grandchildren, Caleb Levin Crawford and Jordan Elizabeth Allgood and her husband Nic, two great grandchildren, Aiden Allgood and Emma Allgood, four siblings, Theaola Lynn, James C. Gunkel and his wife Jimmie Lou, Geneva Kirkpatrick and Ethel Kinberger and her husband Jack, special family friends, Louie and Lepe Loomis and Lora-Lynn Loomis and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, Beth Klein, Gladys Thurmond and Syble Holly and three brothers, R.J., Ewing and Gene Gunkel.
The family would like to express special appreciation to Lepe Loomis, special niece, Betty and her church family for their tireless efforts and for providing love and support.
Memorial contributions may be made to Letitia Baptist Church, 2606 S. State Highway 65, Lawton, OK 73501.
