Lawrence contracted rheumatic fever as a young man which damaged the mitral valve in his heart. He spent much of his time in bed, and while there, learned how to crochet beautiful lacy filet work. He would help his brothers and sisters with their home work and was always cheerful and happy.
Lawrence was survived by his parents John and Emma; 3 sisters, Minnie; Mildred; and Della; and 4 brothers, twins sons Veron and Virgil; and another set of twins, Ray and Roy. He was proceded in death by a 3 year old brother Hyrum who died in 1909, and twin baby sisters Ruby and Ruth who died at birth in 1915. Lawrence was laid to rest with Hyrum, Ruby and Ruth at the Murray Cemetery.
