Troy L. Garner, passed away on April 28, 2014 at the age of 62 after a short battle with renal cancer.
Troy was born March 8, 1952 in Maywood, CA to Hettie and Gerald Garner. He graduated from Paramount High School in 1970 where he played basketball and averaged 22 pts. per game during his senior year. He attended Compton College and Loyola University in LA. He was employed at Shell Oil Refinery in Martinez for 32 years upon his death. His hobbies included golf, fishing, hunting, gardening and handyman work. Troy always fixed things rather than buy them new.
Troy is survived by his wife of 27 years, Judy, stepson Jonathan, son Kevin and grandsons Mason and Ethan Garner. He leaves behind his brother George and wife Cindy Kirk of Arizona and three nieces, Lisa, Carrie, and Kelli. Troy will be greatly missed by his family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.
A Celebration of Troy's life will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Ouimet Bros., Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
