Mary Lucille Henshaw Murphy, 88, of Galatia, passed away at 10:23 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at Harrisburg Medical Center. She was born March 16, 1919, in Saline County to the late William and Othella Helen Mitchell Babb. On July 4, 1936, she married J.R. "Jimmy" Henshaw, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1968. She later married Carl Hatfield and Glen Murphy, and they both preceded her in death. Mary was retired from Harrisburg Manufacturing Company and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Eldorado. She was also Worthy Matron of Eastern Star of Stonefort and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by daughters, Loretta Cheek of Eldorado and Edna (Larry) Robbins of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Larry (Judy) Henshaw of Norris City; daughter, Brenda (Charlie) Kalbfleisch of Glenarm; son, James R. Henshaw Jr. of Vincennes, Ind.; and her sisters, Rachel Shewmake of Harrisburg and Pauline Hill of Pensacola, Fla. Eleven grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren survive.
Mary was preceded by her parents; her husbands, J.R. "Jimmy" Henshaw, Carl Hatfield and Glen Murphy; son-in-law, Gene Cheek, husband of Loretta; and grandson, Rick Henshaw, son of Larry and Judy Henshaw.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at Reed Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Russell Helton officiating, burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
