Joseph Reynolds Ennis was named after his grandfather Joseph Reynolds Allcock. J. R. was the oldest son of Matilda Allcock and George Ennis. He had a younger brother William Tennant Ennis who is also interred at Campbell-Shields Cemetery. Both J. R. and W. T. had several half brothers and sisters by George Ennis's first marriage to Mary Frances Campbell who was the first cousin of J. R. and W. T. Ennis's maternal grandmother Martha Ann Stilley Campbell Allcock. Also W.T. and J. R. Ennis had 2 half brothers and 1 half sister from the 2nd marriage of their mother to D.D. Phelps, one of whom is buried in this cemetery (G. W. Phelps).
