Son of Micheal Stagg and Barbara (Conklin) Stagg. Brother of Silas Stagg, R. H. Stagg, and Addie (Stagg) Parrish.

He was an inmate in the Iowa State Reform School at age 11.

He enlisted in the Army on Dec. 9, 1898 in Cleveland, Ohio and discharged at Manilla, P.I. on Dec. 8, 1901.

Husband of Nagasaki-born Masano Stagg.

Died of heart failure at home at No. 6 Boone Road.
