ALEXANDRIA-Mary E. (Allen) Summers, 91, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at St. Vincent-Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Mary was born on September 22, 1922 in Alexandria to Kenneth and Elsie (McCord) Allen and has lived in the Alexandria area all of her lifetime. Mary was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1940. She worked for RCA in Marion for 19 years retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Vermillion Christian Church in rural Alexandria. Mary enjoyed working with ceramics and macramé. She was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed boating with her family at their summer lake cottage and also on the Ohio River.

7 Grandchildren
9 Great-Grandchildren
Sister-Phyllis Alford Burris-Alexandria
Several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 72 years, Lyle Summers in 2013, a grandson-Scott Summers in 2001, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Service honoring Mary's life will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, May 3, 2014 in the Owens Funeral Home, 4 12 North Harrison Street, Alexandria. Pastor Paul Werling will officiate. Interment will follow the services in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria on Saturday after 11 am prior to the services.
