Stephen TREACY emigrated from Ireland ca. 1878 to Minnesota. He and Mary MCCARTHY were married on October 30, 1888 in Marysburg, Le Sueur County, Minnesota.


Stephen Treacy of Parkertown, died at St. Gabriel's hospital Tuesday evening at 9:15 from complications due to old age. He was 79. Funeral services were held Thursday from St. James church, Randall, with Father Edwin Oman officiating. Pallbearers were his four sons and two sons-in-law. Burial was in the Randall Cemetery. Born in Doon, County cork, Ireland May 5, 1858, Mr. Treacy came to the United States in 1878, locating in southern MN. In 1888 he married Miss Mary McCarthy at Madison Lake. They moved to South Dakota and proved up a claim near De Smet. Mrs. Treacy died in 1901. Coming to Parkertown in 1895 he lived on the same place for the past 41 years. Mr. Treacy was highly respected and held several town offices during his residence in Parkertown. Surviving are the following children: Sister Leone, O.S.B. Eau Claire, Wis.; Sister Stephen, O.S.F., Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. J.A. Firnstahl [Furnstahl} and Mrs. Albert Mahling, Randall; Charles of Stillwater; Dr. J.W. Treacy, Chicago; W.J. Treacy, St. Paul and J.P. Treacy of Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI. Little Falls Herald January 1937. He was the son of Timothy and Mary (Stokes) Treacy.
