ARAB, AL: Paul D. Rowland, 73, of Arab, died Saturday, Febraury 26, 2011, at his residence.

Paul graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1957. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 663 in Arab, helped organize the Ruth Volunteer Fire Department and served as a firefighter, and was a member of the Amanda King Chapter 472 Order of the Eatern Star. He was a charter member of the Center for Conscious Living in Huntsville.

He worked at Pratt Whitney in West Palm Beach, FL, for 15 years before moving to Alabama. He worked for Thokol in Huntsville for seven years and worked at SES for 14 years prior to his retirement in 2006.

He enjoyed his tractor, farm and feeding fish in his big duck pond. He also enjoyed fishing and was dedicated to community service.

He is survived by his wife: Barbara Rowland of Arab; daughters and son-in-law: Hayley Rose of Huntsville and Melanie and Dennis Furney of Florida; sisters: Beatrice Blevins and Wilma Hoffman of Ohio and Belle White of Florida; and grandchildren: Autumn Rose, Elizabeth Furney and Robert Furney; he is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Rev. David Leonard officiated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Ruth Volunteer Fire Department or Center for Conscious Living in Huntsville.
