Melvin N. Jennings, 88, of Pontiac, died at 1:21 p.m. Saturday (April 26, 2014) at his residence.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1925 in Streator, a son of Arthur and Ethel Waggner Jennings. He married Dorothy Becker on Feb. 16, 1973 in Pontiac. He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Jennings; one brother, Harry Jennings and one sister, Burdette Ranger.

Mel is survived by wife; three children, Judith (Michael) Majercin, Larry (Doris) Jennings and Cynthia (Marty) Palanos; two stepchildren, Randy Thompson and Alice Bloodworth; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Herschel D. Jennings.

He worked at Shell Agricultural Co. and later at DuPont Agricultural Co. in El Paso, where he held management positions.
