Velma Chostner Limbaugh, 94, died December 21, 1997 at Brian Center in Goldsboro, NC. A native of Marble Hill, MO; she was the daughter of the late Pinkney and Ellen Chostner.
She taught school from the age 16 to 18, and then married Webster Sylvester Limbaugh, who passed away in 1967.
Before moving to Goldsboro in 1988, she had lived in St. Louis, MO.
On the occasion of her 90th birthday, the Mayor of St. Louis, Freeman Bosley, presented her with a proclamation naming November 17 as Velma Limbaugh Day in St. Louis. The Mayor of Bal Harbor, FL, Estelle Stern Spiegel, also honored her with the key to the city of Bal Harbor. Mrs. Limbaugh was named Honorary Chairlady for Angels of Villa Maria, a charity in Miami, FL.
She was an active member of the Baden Baptist Church in Saint Louis, MO.
Among her hobbies were sewing, gardening her roses, and traveling over the world.
Mrs. Limbaugh is survived by four children, Webster S. Limbaugh, Jr. of Kansas City, MO; Aldav Lancaster of Goldsboro, NC; Dempsey Limbaugh of Bal Harbor, FL; and Virginia Lancaster of Goldsboro, NC; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Services were held December 29, at Cracraft Miller Funeral Home in Jackson, MO.
